On my farm I have vegetables, e.g., cowpeas and kale, and I have poultry and nursery trees. I have also made organic manure which I sometimes sell.

At the centre I have learned farming as a business, how to manage a small-scale farm, how to keep dairy cattle, how to feed them, treat them, and to earn a living from them. How to use farm machinery and control pests on the farm. How to keep poultry, vaccinate them and how to feed them. I’ve found that what I learned has made the chickens healthier and I have more now. I have 18 big chickens and some small chicks. Before I wasn’t even interested in poultry.

I have also learned how to harvest water and how to open a Facebook account, how to use the Internet to learn about other countries; you ask questions and the answers just come!

In the future I hope to have my own shamba and farm as a business, keep poultry, and plant trees. I also want to teach others good farming, poultry keeping, dairy keeping, and help them to do whatever I did now and will learn in the future.
